1. COMPETITION ENROLLMENT AND DONATION

Q: Why did I not receive a notification (email / SMS) after enrollment?

A: After enrolled, our enrollment system will automatically send you “Confirm receipt of Enrollment” email to your registered email address. If you haven’t received, it may because:

  • Our email has been sent to the junk email inbox

  • Your registered email address and mobile phone number is not correct

  • The storage space to receive email in your email inbox and SMS inbox is not enough.

 

To ensure emails from us would not be treated as junk email, please add photomarathon@chk.canon.com.hk to your safe list. If you cannot receive any notification in email or SMS, please contact our Technical Hotline at 3978-5899 or send email to photomarathon@chk.canon.com.hk .

 

Q: After submitted the enrollment, am I already the official contestant and eligible to the competition?

A: No. The organizer will firstly announce the enrollment result to you after enrollment period. If you received the notification of “Preliminary Contestant”, you can follow the instruction and method stated to pay the enrollment fee. After the beneficiary confirmed your donation, you will be the “Official Contestant” and eligible to the competition.

 

Q: When will I know the enrollment result and pay the enrollment fee?

A: If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, contestants of Challenge Category, Student Category & Corporate Category will be selected by ballot. You will receive the enrollment result below according to the Category by email “Challenge / Student / Corporate Category Enrollment Status Notice” & SMS. You can also sign in the CONTESTANT PLATFORM page to check the enrollment result.

 

Challenge Category:

Release from 27th July 2018 onwards

 

Student Category:

Release from 25th June 2018, 26thJuly 2018 & 11th September onwards

 

Corporate Category:

Released once the online enrollment form is submitted

 

Q: I am the “Preliminary Contestant”, however I have missed to pay enrollment fee on time, may I donate after the deadline?

A: No. Contestants/teams failed to pay enrollment fee in the specified period will be disqualified, and substituted by contestant/ teams from the waiting list

 

Q: I am the “Preliminary Contestant”, however I foresee that I will not be able to join the competition on the event day, may I shift my quota to my relative/friends?

A: No.

 

Q: What are the ways to pay the enrollment fee?

A:

 

Challenge Category & Student Category

Only online payment directly to the organizer’s account through the designated online platform by credit card, stated in the notifications sent by the organizer, will be accepted. Please donate within the time specified to ensure eligibility for the competition.

 

Corporate Category:

There are 2 payment ways of enrollment fee for Corporate Category

 
  • Directly pay on the organizer’s online platform through credit card by designed period.

  • Mailing of cross cheque of “Canon HongKong Company Limited” to the organizer (Address: Canon Hongkong Company Limited, Corporate Communications Division, 5/F., Tower A, China Life Center, 18 Hung Luen Road, Hunghom, Kowloon). Please state below on the back of the cheque: Company Name, Team Name & “Enrollment fee of CPM 2018 Corporate Category”  

    Please pay within the time specified to ensure eligibility for the competition.

 

 

Q: The online payment was not successful, what should I do?

A: Please call our CPM Technical Hotline: 3978-5899 for assistance.

 

Q: After paid the enrollment fee, when will I be notified as “Official Contestant” and eligible to the competition?

A: Please follow the payment method stated to pay the enrollment fee by designed time period. Upon received your enrollment by the beneficiary, “Confirmation of Challenge / Student / Corporate Category” email and SMS will be sent to your email and mobile device to confirm you as an “Official Contestant” in corresponding category of the competition. You can also sign in the CONTESTANT PLATFORM page to check your status.

 

Q: I have paid the enrollment fee and now the “Official Contestant”, however I foresee that I will not be able to join the competition on the event day, can I get the refund?

A: No matter what reasons, enrollment fee will not be refunded once donated.

 

Q: I have paid the enrollment fee and now the “Official Contestant”, however I foresee that I will not be able to join the competition on the event day, may I shift my quota to my relative/friends?

A: No.

 

Q: May I have the donation receipt?

A: If you have donated HK$100 or above, you can request to receive the donation receipt mailed by the beneficiary. Please state the request in the enrollment form and provide necessary information.

 

2. RULES AND REGULATIONS

Q: Can I use film cameras or cameras of other brands for shooting in the competition?

A: Organizer does not allow contestants to use film cameras in the competition. Nevertheless, in order to encourage more photography lovers to participate in the competition, contestants of Challenge Category, Student Category & Corporate Category are allowed not only using interchangeable-lenses cameras, but also using digital compact photo camera of any brands to photo shoot.

 

Q: Can I be accompanied by friends in the competition?

A: Sorry, no friends or relatives are allowed to accompany. The venue will only accommodate contestants and staff.

 

Q: Must the entry photographs be taken near the site of the competition?

A: The Organizer places no restriction on the location of photography. Contestants can decide their own routes of photography and the mode of transport. However, contestants must pay the fares for the transport themselves and return to the venue of the competition by the cut off time to upload their theme photographs and redeem the phrase stamp for the theme of the next round.


 

3. PHOTO REQUIEMENT

Q: Are we allowed to edit our photos on photo editing software (e.g Photoshop) on computer?

A: No

 

Q: Can the photographs be enhanced using the built-in touch-up functions of the camera?

A: Touch-up functions built into the camera, such as Multiple Exposures and HDR, are allowed. Photographs must NOT be altered by image editing software on a computer

 

Q: Must the three photographs entered be taken by the same camera?

A: No. Entries for different themes can be taken by different cameras.

 

Q: Will the organizer provide computers for contestants to view and select photographs?

A: The computers provided at the venue are for the sole purpose of photo upload. Contestants are asked to view and select their photographs using their own equipment.

 

Q: Are the chances of winning higher if I use a Canon camera?

A: The professional judges will judge the photographs according to the pre-set criteria and no preference will be given to those using Canon camera.

 

4. OTHERS

Q: If there is any lunch or catering service provided?

A: The organizer will not provide any lunch or catering service. Please arrange your own if necessary.
